Welcome to the Will County Model Railroad Association Website
Welcome to the Will County Model Railroad Association.
The organization was originally founded as the Romeoville Railroad Club in 1979 and has moved to several locations since then, including the Wilderness Mall and the Rialto Theater annex in Joliet and a location on Millsdale Road in Elwood and in the basement of the 9 W. Cass building..
Our club is currently located in the lower level of an office building on the West Side of Joliet, Ill.
We are focused on HO-scale model railroading, utilizing Direct Command Control (DCC) and are actively building a modular in-club layout based on Free-Mo; this will permit easy expansion and changes, accommodate new ideas from members, and keep things fresh by permitting easy expansion and changes.
We participate in many train shows, including the World's Greatest Hobby in Chicago, Trainfest in Milwaukee, the Southland model railroad show at Richards High School, and the CASA Polar Express event in Joliet. We have actively participated in joint setups with other local groups like the Northwest Train Masters, Bolingbrook Model Railroad Club, Kane County Model Railroad Club, and others. While you're here, check out the Photo Albums tab, and our Facebook page.
We strive for a club experience by working together; sharing knowledge, helping members reach their modeling goals, and learning from members with different experiences and ideas. No need to be apprehensive about new technology or ideas; odds are someone has some applicable experience they would be willing to share or we can work together to figure it out!
We host a semi-annual Swap Meet, which is among the largest in the Southland area. Information on this event can be found under the News & Events tab. Vendor Registration Forms can be found under the Document and Tech Library.
We encourage you to visit the Club. When visiting the group, introduce yourself to a Member. Your name, where you are located, your modeling interests and things like that helps our Members make a connection. Feel free to ask Members any questions you may have. You can also ask questions using the Contact Us tab.
Thanks for your interest - our hope is that all of us sharing information, helping each other, and even just lending moral support will make the hobby more fun and more enjoyable for all of us.
